HP Pavilion very slow and getting stuck
09-08-2019 12:56 PM

Lately my laptop, HP Pavilion 15-cc5xx, has been acting very slow lately on both loading applications and start up. The problem started about a week ago when I was at my grandma's house. I was trying to get my laptop to turn on so I could do homework, but I never could get it to load. The first time I couldn't get it to load past the loading screen, so I held the power button to turn it off. Once I rebooted it I couldn't get it to load past trying to log in. Again I held the power button and the next time I tried to load Microsoft Word and it froze my computer.
The problem hasn't been that bad since, but now when I try to turn it on sometimes I can get it to load fine, just a little slow, but today I was trying to turn it on and it loaded the lock screen but only the picture. I couldn't get any of the UI to show up so I held the power button to turn it off. I did get it to turn on but I frequently am having problems even trying to turn it on and log in. Two days ago I tried turning it off completely, from the start menu, and letting it rest for a while to see if that would help of if it had any updates. Unfortunately, my laptop wouldn't load past a certain point when I did that too and there were no updates so I'm unsure of what the problem is.
If I am able to turn it on often the programs take a very long time to load up. That problem is less concerning though. I have tried uninstalling many applications from my computer that I don't need and have even disabled most of them from running on start up. I'm not sure why it's been acting this way, My laptop was bought in May 2018, it's September 2019. It isn't very old, but it isn't under warranty anymore.
Thank you!

Hi
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.
Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat
AND/OR - Power on your PC, press Esc (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

HOW DO I USE DIAGNOSTICS?
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows is a Windows-based utility that allows you to run diagnostic tests to determine if the computer hardware is functioning properly. The tool runs within the Windows operating system in order to diagnose hardware failures. HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows comes pre-installed on new HP computers, but if not on yours, download here:- http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp93001-93500/sp93457.exe
The EU has a 2 year seller warranty, not a lot of good in the US etc; just saying...
