Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

my HP Pavilion x360 has become a super slow slug.  extrememly long bootups.  opening up Windows Explorer is laborous and transferring files to a portable harddrive is an exercise in futility.

what gives?   I run AVG ultimate virus protection and AVG tuneup to keep fragmentation.

Hi,

I'd suggest you check your HDD health before going further.

Use some of these tools:

neither one of these (PAY to use services) did anythign to help the situation.

honestly, as much as I paid for my HP laptops, I expected a little more help or HP support to me with supplied software to analyze my drives.  not pay us $89 to analyze your hard drive.

1. Sigh.

2. HP does provide hardware diagnostics:

  • power-off your computer
  • power-on your computer, and immediately start tapping the ESC or DEL or F8 keys, until you see a menu
  • on the menu, launch "HP Hardware Diagnostics"
  • select the tests for the disk-drive
  • tell us which test(s) report "pass", and which test(s) report "fail"

How old is the computer?  HP provides free technical support for the first year.

If that warranty has expired, then you must pay HP for technical support.

Did you purchase an extended warranty from HP?
