ProDesk 600 g1
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello,

I was recently acquired  an old ProDesk 600 g1. I took the cover off, looked at the Ram and the 500gb Hdd, took the CPU out too see if it needed better thermal paste(it probably did but I didn’t have any with me). After this I turned it on and for about 30 seconds the pc hummed quietly until suddenly escalating into someting that sounded louder than the storm outside me. I specialise I’m apple products and I have come across similar errors which always have an explanation but I can’t be certain as to what was wrong, the Motherboard doesn’t give me any clues . The only possible error would be that 20 seconds after turning it on, the hdd started some quite clicking which sounded like a damaged hard drive but I could not be certain as the hdd seemed almost brand new.

Help would be highly appreciated. Many thanks.

DGS

Note: the pc was used as someone’s primary pc for web browsing, typing ect, so The hard ware should be fine
