HP Slimline desktop S563W won't power on. Blue light flashes briefly then turns off.

S5603W
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

When I press the power on button the blue start up light flashes briefly on the hard drive and then shuts off.  I can hear the fan and the hard drive briefly starting up so I don't think it is either of those.

@Gocougs

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand, your PC does not power on,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

When was the last time it worked fine?

Were there any hardware/software changes made?

How many times the light flashes?

Perform Testing computer memory for troubleshooting:

  1. Plug the AC adapter into the computer.

  2. Turn off the computer.

  3. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the f10 key to enter the BIOS Setup menu.

  4. In the BIOS Setup Utility, use the Right Arrow or Left Arrow keys to navigate through the menu selection to locate the Diagnostics.

  5. Use the Down Arrow or Up Arrow keys to select Memory Test.

  6. Press Enter, and then Yes to perform memory test.

  7. After test completes, press f10 key to Save and Exit, and then press Enter key to Exit Saving Changes.

If the test fails, one or more of the memory modules might not be seated properly. Check for and reseat loose memory modules.
