HP Stream Mini Desktop 200-010 Died

HP Recommended
HP Stream Mini
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello - My HP Stream mini will not turn on. When I press the power button nothing happens (no fan, light, etc). I checked with a multimeter and my power supply is providing power. What are my options to get this fixed (it is out of warranty)? If the PC is trash does HP provide any discounts toward a new device?

@turtleboyf

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand the HP Stream Mini Desktop 200-010 isn't powering on anymore,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Did you check with an alternate power cord or adapter?

Have you performed a hard reset by disconnecting all the cords and holding the power button in for a few seconds?
(To release the excessive static, if no, please do as it should resolve the issue)

While you respond to that, I recommend you check with an alternate power outlet as well as another power cord,

If the alternate cables aren't turning the computer on, it's possible, the hardware components within the computer requires a replacement/repair:

HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:

* Open link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

* Enter Product number or select to auto detect

* Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

* Scroll down and click on HP contact options - click on Get a Case & phone number.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge.

If you would like to thank me for my efforts to help you,

feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on the "Accept as solution".

Have a great day!

Hi

I don't have an alternative power adaptor - so I can't check that. I did verify with a multimeter that it is outputting voltage.

I attempted a hard reset - no luck

I contacted HP support - they said it would be around $400 to fix....nearly double what I paid for the computer new.

I am somewhat computer inclined - I think that the motherboard probably needs to be replaced. I would love to get a new board and put it in myself - unfortunately it doesn't appear that I can buy the board directly from the HP parts site.

So, at this point my options are slim.....

Thank you for replying with this detailed response 😉

I appreciate your time and efforts,

If you wish to replace the part on your own, there are options available:

You could purchase the part from HP, use the HP Parts surfer to identify the part: Click here & order it via the HP Parts store (Click here),

That said, you could also, contact a local store/tech with the part number obtained using the above websites and replace the same appropriately.
