HP TouchSmart 520-1200 Desktop PC series
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

Please note that when i turn on my computer the HP logo appears with the below sentence:

"Press the ESC for Startup Menu"

I tried to do that but i did not have any response. I have checked the USB ports and they are not working. For this reason im not being able to acces to the stratup menu.

Could you please help me to fix this?

kind regards,

Santiago

HP Touchsmart 12909 eb USB ports not working

Hi @santial ,

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

The Barachiel is at your service.

I understand you are in need of support,

I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:

Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?

When was the last time it worked without these issues?

In the meantime, please try the steps mentioned below:

Performing a Hard Reset

Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:

  1. If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.

If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.

  2. With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.

  3. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.

  4. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

Please reply with the details for further assistance.

Eager to help!

Barachiel
