My HP Pavilion Dv6 laptop powers on but screen stays black, and the led near the caps lock button blinks every 2-3 seconds.

I already performed a hard reset, by removing battery and power cable, and holding down power button for >15 seconds. Screen came on and worked for short time. Next power up screen was black again and led was blinking again, and hard reset not working.

This is a Hardware issue. Since this is an older model I suggest you check with the local computer stores for repair
