HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-1167c
Microsoft Windows 11

Hey guys,
The other day I was using my desktop and it was working perfectly fine when it suddenly shut off. Since then I haven't been able to start it. Every time I plug it in, the power button and the green led light on the front just blinks. I have no idea what happened or what's wrong and I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to computers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Ljstevenson,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for reaching out, and I completely understand how alarming and frustrating it can be when your PC suddenly powers off and won’t come back on—especially when everything seemed fine just moments before.

Let’s walk through some simple steps to help you diagnose and possibly fix the issue with your HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-1167c:

1. Power Supply Check

  • Unplug everything from the desktop (including power, monitor, keyboard, etc.).
  • Hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual power.
  • Plug only the power cable back in and try turning it on.
  • If the light still blinks, the system may be detecting a hardware failure or power issue.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Unplug the power cord.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power and try turning it on.

3. Check for POST Beep or Blink Codes

  • Count the number of blinks or beeps (if any) in a repeating pattern.
  • HP uses these as diagnostic codes. For example:
    • 3 long red, 2 short white = memory issue
    • 5 blinks = motherboard failure
  • Let me know the exact blink pattern if you see one.

4. Test with a Known-Good Power Cable

  • Try a different compatible power cable or PSU if available.
  • A failing PSU can cause blinking lights but no boot.

5. Reseat Internal Components

If you're comfortable opening the case:

  • Unplug the PC and open the side panel.
  • Reseat the RAMGPU, and power connectors to the motherboard.
  • Check for any burnt smellloose cables, or bulging capacitors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks again,
