My laptop won't boot up and thr HP repair tool keeps failing to repair it. I'm pretty sure my hard drive failed and I need to buy another, but I'm not sure what is and isn't compatible with my laptop. Can anyone tell me what hard drive I should buy as a replacement, or which ones are compatible with my laptop?

There is a video here on disassembly

Your manual indicates the same procedure (page 14)

I would put in a WD-500 BLUE SSD, about $60 at Walmart.  It will have the standard 500 bytes per sector and be compatible. Unlike some of the higher performance and high capacity.

Please run a good disk check program to verify the problem.  I suspect you have a Seagate drive.

Get the standalone bootable diagnostic

Western digital may have something similar but I have never used it

Seatools will give a better diagnostic and possibly fix the problem.  It can also check the warrantee in the off chance it is still covered by the manufacturer.
