Having trouble booting up. slow and intermittent or just hanging. Ran an f2 quick test and got the message "Hard drive short DST test Failed. gave me a 24 digit failure ID and product id. tried to enter these in help page . Failure ID accepted. product ID, which is correct, comes back as invalid. How do I get some info an what I need to do to fix this problem and can it be fixed

It looks like a standard 2.5" notebook hard drive to me.

You can reinstall W10 for free by using the media creation tool at the link below to make a bootable W10 USB flash drive.

After W10 installs, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.

Hi:
If you got a 24 character failure code, you need to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
Below is the link to the service manual.

You may want to consider replacing the mechanical hard drive with a better performing normally more reliable solid state drive (SSD).

thanks for this. Where do I get a new hard drive. Looked on HP but hard drives were not available in the spares section for this product. Directed me to resellers, getting the correct one seems to be a problem. Have removed the existing and copied details but still struggling to find a source of replacement. Any ideas
