My computer is saying failed hard drive

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

 

You may have to replace the HDD if you see a HDD error at boot or you see this error when running HP Diagnostics. Reseat the power and data connections to the HDD. Or you could have a SATA controller problem on the motherboard (MB). Try different MB SATA ports if available.

 

Data may be recoverable if you connect this HDD as a data drive to a different PC or connect this HDD to this PC using a SATA to USB adapter after reinstalling Windows on a new HDD or SSD.

 

You will have to reinstall Windows or image the existing operating system to a new HDD or SSD.
