Last week a Microsoft support rep who was trying to address a problem with installing one of their software products on my PC, noted that the BIOS on my HP PC is several years old and advised me to get an updated version installed on it.

Hello
An update of the bios, is not just for the sake of the weather, no matter how old it is.
And after a while, sometimes quickly, the bios is no longer updated!
This should only be done, if there is an important reason for doing so (so check what is mentioned )
The latest available updates are for windows 7 here:
