Laptop stuck on windows startup screen

I haven’t used this laptop in years, it used to be the family laptop so everyone used it. But we ended up not using it in years and now I need it for college. When I started it, it got semi stuck on the black screen but it was temporary and is now stuck on the windows startup screen. It doesn’t seem to advance past this point. Help please 😞

W7 has been retired. I would probably not connect this PC to the Internet.

The PC can't load Windows.

Try to check your PC's hardware using HP Diagnostics as follows:

Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key.

Select "F2". Run system and component tests to confirm: a drive problem, a memory problem, or other component problem. Run extensive tests.

You may have a W7 boot loader problem if hardware tests pass.

Do you have the HP W7 recovery disks?

Or Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key. Check for a "F11" System Recovery option.

You might be able to recover W7 if the HP Recovery partition exists. You will lose all data stored on the system disk. Proceed at your own risk.
