you  posted laptops to desktop help>? 🤣   2017 PC? and has SDD or HDD, ?IDK what ?

if any PC has hdd boot drive and the drive fails SMART tests

no OS on earth can run on any bad HDD, it will never happen , get a new drive now.

run HP Diagnostic  is first, did you?  and look super careful  for any kind of hDD errors.?

that means recovery is impossible too with any bad hdd. of any shape or kind

I boot Dem0 try me, Ubuntu v17+ media  (usb stick)and run linux DISKTEST,  opps if fail (red words) the HDD is bad.

end story if true

and the RTC coin cell battery must not be dead or booting will fail. BIOS NOW nuts as a result of that.

2017 coin battery should be ok

SSD or HDD boot? do tell.

the laptops have this huge battery if shorted overloads PSU rails inside and lots of logic chip fail.

that means we in a shop remove the huge battery first then test only on AC power. or look foolish barking up the wrong tree.

we never trust any battery in any PCs we test them all. or in the case of HUGE battery no desktop has, we remove it.

and test.

if the problem is ONLY w10 updates failed

ask microsoft.com for help.  there is a way to reverse any w10 update, (i do not cover MS ways and means, ever, changes too fast now. but the PC can  be hard cold booted 3 times and MS deeper recovery does kit off.  3 times is the charm/?)

NO warranty answers by me.
