My All-in-one do not wake up

HP Envy 23 All-In-One, 23-k027c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

If I leave my computer and it goes into sleep mode, it does not come back on. I must unplug the power cord from the machine, wait for ten minutes and then turn the machine back on.

Is this an overheating problem? Or is it something more?

Thanks

My All-in-one do not wake up

@MagNet7

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

Win10 uses something by default known as hybrid sleep.  It's not actually sleeping, nor it is actually hybernating, but some combination of the two -- and it is know to have problems.

I have a new HP All-in-One and I run into exactly the same issue from time to time.  The screen goes dark and when I click the mouse or press any keys, all it get is a sound and nothing happens on screen.  I have to hold the power button in until the PC recycles.

One thing I would suggest is disabling Fast Startup.  This is not the same as Fast Boot, but is the Windows option forcing the PC into the hybrid sleep mode.  Disabling that might help the situation.

There are two ways to disable FastStartup in Win10; (1) through the Control Panel, and (2) through an elevated command prompt.

Control Panel - Open Control Panel --> Power Options.
Select "Choose what the power buttons do"
Select "Change settings that are currently unavailable"
At the bottom of the Window, under Shutdown settings, uncheck the box regarding fast startup

Elevated command prompt - run the following command:
REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power" /V  HiberbootEnabled /T REG_dWORD /D 0 /F

In both cases, reboot Windows.

NOW, FastStartup is disabled.

If that does not solve the problem, then you need to go back into Power options and set the sleep to "never".  That will prevent the PC from going to sleep in the future.

Good Luck

My All-in-one do not wake up

Thanks, but the solution did not work. After following the steps, I tried to reboot and the PC did not rebooted. When the PC comes back up, I will change to "never" sleep and see what happens. I still can't figure why the waiting period after the PC shuts down. Why I have to wait 10 to 15 minutes before trying to restart. Thanks again.
