HP Recommended

Hi. I know this is probably a shot in the dark but I figured it was worth a shot. I have a old HP 15 laptop that I got probably 7, 8, years ago (not actually sure where the time frame is) I used it a little bit and I just put it up in a safe place for the past few year's, well I broke it out today to do business stuff. But I came into a issue. It charges and the lights on the keyboard pop up and I can even hear it turn on. However all I get is a black screen. I don't have the money to replace it. And it's been way past the warranty date. And no I don't have another laptop or desktop to run a system diagnoses on it. So if there's anyway to get it working I'll be happy. If anyone has any ideas or tips and tricks to get it working it would be great. Thank you.
