My PC suddenly switched off while working normally. Repeated attempts to start it only resulted in my trip going off sometimes. On investigation, I concluded the PSU had failed. I obtained a refurbished replacement but after installing it, it still wouldn’t start. The LED went out and the trip went off randomly, but nothing worked, no fans nothing. Thinking I had bought another faulty PSU I tried disconnecting all the plugs, switched the PSU on, then replaced the various connectors. Nothing happened with the SATA connectors or the 6 pin connector on the I/O board. When I reconnected the large Motherboard connector, all the fans came on. They also sped up when I pressed the power button. But, when I plugged in the 4 pin ATX connector, the PSU shut down and the trip went off when I plugged the mains back in. I did try rigging up the old PSU to just supply the ATX connector, but although the fans keep running, there is only a brief flash from the red front panel light, with no evidence of the PC booting up. Does anyone have a suggestion where to go next? Thanks
