I'm getting an error code 0xc0000225 and upon startup it flashes a message "Session 1 initialization failed". I tried going through the steps the virtual assistant suggested but it won't let me do recovery or restore. I have an HP Pavillion 590-p0117cb. Any help would be appreciated. I tested the components and they passed. I did an extensive test and i

Hi @Wheelnik,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error code 0xc0000225 typically indicates an issue with the Windows Boot Configuration Data (BCD) or the system's boot files. The message "Session 1 initialization failed" further suggests a problem during the Windows startup process. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Startup Repair:
- Boot your computer from a Windows installation media (USB/DVD).
- Choose your language preferences and click "Next."
- Click "Repair your computer" > "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Startup Repair."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to allow Windows to attempt automatic repair of the startup files.
Rebuild BCD:
- While in the Windows installation media's "Advanced options," choose "Command Prompt."
- Type the following commands one by one, pressing Enter after each:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd
- Restart your computer after completing these commands.
Check Hard Drive and Data Cables:
- If the above steps don't work, it's possible that there's a hardware issue. Make sure your hard drive is properly connected and not failing. You might need to open your computer case and check the connections.
System Restore:
- Since you mentioned that you can't do recovery or restore, this might be a bit tricky. However, if you have a System Restore point created earlier, you might be able to access it via the command prompt in the Windows installation media.
Fresh Windows Installation:
- If none of the above steps work, you might need to consider reinstalling Windows. This should be a last resort, as it will result in data loss if you don't have a backup.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
