Welcome to the HP Community --

Thank you for continuing your education -- it is one of the best investments you can make.

Perhaps you have answered your own question --

If you let the battery "run down" beyond where it can recover, the battery will have to be replaced.

What?

Batteries do not typically recover when dead.

You can certainly ask HP for help -- we cannot submit the request for you --

In-Warranty repair request submission is done online.

Scroll down for links to HP Support.

What if the source of the problem is a dead battery?

Replacing the battery yourself is a much faster solution.  Even if HP will cover the cost of battery and replacement, you have to send the whole computer to HP -- submission, acceptance, shipping, repair, and returning the product to you takes time, generally ten days to two weeks and that assumes there are no delays.

Purchasing a battery (for example from a seller like Amazon), generally takes a couple of days.

The replacement procedure takes about 30 minutes or a bit more based on your skill level and willingness to complete the task.

Reminders - READ

Case submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices registered and are still in Warranty.

Some regions display phone / chat contact information only after the case is submitted online

Not every issue is covered under the standard Hardware Warranty.  Purchased Care Pack Warranties differ by contract.

HP is not a "general" repair facility: Requests for out-of-warranty repairs are usually not accepted.

If the problem is hardware, if your device is in Warranty, if your device is Registered, and you cannot submit your case to Support, let us know and we will forward a request.

Important

HP Phone numbers you find on the Internet have likely been hijacked. Old HP phone numbers – those numbers no longer used by HP since the move to “online” case submissions – might have been taken over by thieves.

Do not be a victim.

Stay vigilant.
