My laptop randomly shuts down and every time i turn it back on it says 'system detected issue with cooling fan'

Welcome to the HP Forum.

 

It appears your PC is out of warranty as the CPU was released for sale in Q1'17.

 

I don't work on Laptops but it sounds like you have a CPU fan or chassis fan problem. Or you have a MB sensor problem.

 

I would have a local PC Tech take a look. It can be a real PITA to get to the MB on some consumer Laptops.

 

Or disassemble the PC, clean the internals with compressed air, replace the CR2032 MB battery if you have this item on the MB, and replace the fans.

 

Or use the CMOS reset jumpers, if available, on the MB.

 

Replacing the MB battery will reset CMOS and might fix the fan error problem if the fans are okay or you decide to replace the fans.
