Hi @Jayyyy32,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop screen is black, and the caps lock button is blinking continuously, it may indicate a hardware or firmware issue. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if possible).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
  • Turn on the laptop.

Check for External Devices:

  • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.) from your laptop.
  • Try turning on the laptop again.

Check the Memory (RAM):

  • If you have multiple RAM modules, try reseating them or using one module at a time to identify if one of them is causing the issue.

Check for Loose Connections:

  • Ensure that the display cable connecting the laptop screen to the motherboard is securely in place.
  • If you are comfortable doing so, you can open the laptop and check for any loose connections.

Connect to an External Monitor:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor using the appropriate cable.
  • If the external monitor displays the screen, it may indicate an issue with the laptop's built-in display.

Update or Roll Back Graphics Drivers:

  • If you can access the laptop's display settings, try updating or rolling back the graphics drivers to see if that resolves the issue.

Perform a BIOS/UEFI Update:

  • Visit the official HP support website, enter your laptop model, and check if there are any BIOS or UEFI updates available. If so, update the firmware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
