Hi @Jayyyy32,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop screen is black, and the caps lock button is blinking continuously, it may indicate a hardware or firmware issue. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if possible).
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
- Turn on the laptop.
Check for External Devices:
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.) from your laptop.
- Try turning on the laptop again.
Check the Memory (RAM):
- If you have multiple RAM modules, try reseating them or using one module at a time to identify if one of them is causing the issue.
Check for Loose Connections:
- Ensure that the display cable connecting the laptop screen to the motherboard is securely in place.
- If you are comfortable doing so, you can open the laptop and check for any loose connections.
Connect to an External Monitor:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor using the appropriate cable.
- If the external monitor displays the screen, it may indicate an issue with the laptop's built-in display.
Update or Roll Back Graphics Drivers:
- If you can access the laptop's display settings, try updating or rolling back the graphics drivers to see if that resolves the issue.
Perform a BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Visit the official HP support website, enter your laptop model, and check if there are any BIOS or UEFI updates available. If so, update the firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
