I have forgotten my BIOS password and need to reset it, how do I do that.

I have already tried taking out the BIOS Battery and it didn't work.

Can anyone help me?

Hi:

See the service manual below, chapter 8, pages 86 and 87 for how to clear the BIOS P/W.

If you had previously set the Stringent Security option, then you will not be able to clear the BIOS P/W.

See the cautionary statement...the first sentence under the clearing the password settings section.

Do you have a picture of where the  CMOS button is on this model, I can't find any pictures that looks like my computer?

Hi;

You need to find the green clear password jumper, not a CMOS button.   The jumper will be sticking up from the motherboard across two pins.  You may find it near the coin cell battery.

See chapter 8, page 87 of the service manual link I posted yesterday.

I do not have any pictures of the motherboard, and can't find any, other than the pretty useless one shown in the manual in chapter 4 on pages 35 and 36.

Here is two pictures of the motherboard, I have pulled as much as I know is safely off.

I don't see it pictured.

It wouldn't be under the fan.

I guess you will have to call HP technical support and ask for assistance, because the process for clearing the P/W shown in the manual must only be for the MT or SFF models.

All of my HP business desktop PC's have the green clear password jumper easily visible and accessible.

Had the same problem. The jumper is under the fan, close to the power button. In my case it was black. You don't have to remove the fan, it hinges up. remove the jumper, close the case, boot the pc, it wil show a warning aboute the internal battery, boot to the os. shutdown, put the jumper back. close case. boot and you wil see the bios password is gone.
