HP ENVY 23

My computer shut down on me this morning. No regular shutdown; just went off as if my power was out. Now, I cannot power it on. My power supply, when plugged into an outlet, shows green. But, when I try to plug into the computer, the green light disappears and the computer does not turn on. Any suggestions?

Trying to understand your situation ...

So, when you disconnect the PSU (Power Supply Unit) from the motherboard and plug it into an AC outlet, the green LED glows?

But, when you then reconnect the PSU to the motherboard and plug it in again, the LED does not glow?

We can proceed when you provide the information.
Thanks

If I plug the power supply into any outlet, the green light appears. Once I plug into my desktop, the light goes out and I have zero power.

OK, so when you say "power supply", do you mean a "brick" -- like the ones that came with power cables for laptops?

And, when the power supply is plugged into the AC outlet, the green LED is lit, right?

But, when you then connect the cable from the power supply to your PC, the LED goes out, right?

If that is the case, that implies a problem with the PC, and since that is most likely hardware-related, there is nothing we can do from here to diagnose or fix that.

If your PC is still under the original one-year HP warranty, or if you have purchased an extended warranty from HP and this is still valid, then you should contact HP Customer Support to see about having it repaired or replaced under warranty.

If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!
If you have trouble finding a phone number, then try: 1 (800) 474-6836

If your PC is no longer under warranty, you will have to contact an HP Repair or Service Center to see if they can examine the PC to determine the cause(s) of the problems, if it can be repaired, and an estimate of the repair costs.

If you live in the U.S., here is a link to the HP Service Repair Centers:

Good Luck
