Hey somebody gave me hp 500-505j for free the guy siad to me the pc is looping and no signal i will check it when i come home i will probably be able to fix it.. but my quesstion is can i boot this pc off an nvme pci e expension card adapter? Im asking because i have done it on dell optiplex 9020 but i had to add the nvme driver to the bios manually after following a video on youtube.. im asking because i simply ran out of ssds and i only have 2 nvmes left and 2 adapters.. i would like to know if it is possible in any way to boot off nvme on this pc? (assuming i will be able to boot it)

Hi:

I don't believe that it would be possible.

I can't find any posts where someone even tried to do that in a Memphis2-S motherboard.

Since you have the parts you need to do it, I don't see that you have anything to lose by giving it a try.

It has a similar chipset (H87) to the Optiplex 9020's Q87 but the H87 is not quite as good.

I doubt you will be able to make any modifications to the BIOS, however.

I have an update about the condition of the pc, i arrived home the pc didnt work it did boot loop but i discoverd the reason and decided on something. The reason for the boot loop was wire was torn apart on the hp psu.. now the good thing is this psu using standart 24 pin connector so i had spare cheap psu to put inside and the pc works now. But while doing it i decided to do something crazy and j case swapped with old pc that i have gen 4 aswell asus h97me and it fitted and it works to so i decided to sell the hp motherboard with that crappy psu for cheap and keep the cool looking hp case and i might try tomrrow to put the nvme adapter on the hp motherboard and see what happens. Now i have a quesstion since im geniuanly thinking to try to put my main gaming pc inside this hp case and make it "sleeper pc" my quesstion is can i make all of the audio ports and card reader and all of that (and power button) work on normal motherboard somehow? Also my main pc has gigabyte b365m aorus elite and rtx 2080 super triple fan.. do you think it can fit?

I recommend you start a new post on whether or not you can fit those components into the 500-505nj case, because I would have no idea.

I might aswell make new post but i will ask it here 1st I replaced the hp motherboard with my asus h97m-e and some emd dual fan gpu and antec psu aswell it worked but i need to modify the power button somehow and the led lights idk if its possible to reuse the original plastic frame of the power button. Now i wanted to know if the audio front connectors and internal speaker and sd cards are available to use on normal standard non hp motherboard?
