PC won't turn on and has an orange light always on.

HP Recommended
I am not sure....It has an 'hp compaq' and an S/N: [edited] and P/N: EC756ES#ABV.

My problem is that the computer can't even turn on. It has been a lobng time since I used it and a bit of dust had accumulated inside. As soon as I plugged the AC cord into the socket, the orange light turned on and nothing happened. Yes, I heard the small sudden sound that comes when you plug it in but the system wouldn't turn on. The fans are stationery...

Funny thing is that the DVD Drive still works

Please help.

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

The first thing I would do (if you have not done this) is; take the PC to your garage or outside. Then thoroughly clean the internals with compressed air or a dust buster.

The DVD is getting power from the PSU.

I don't know what to tell you.

The problem could be: dust, the PSU, the motherboard (MB). A component connected to the MB.

I would have a local PC tech take a look if you want to get this PC working. Get a quote from the tech. Or, if the tech is reputable, the tech may tell you fixing this PC s not a good investment because of the aging platform.

Fixing this PC is a cost/benefit consideration.
