HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0067c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My system freezes frequently ( once or twice a day). It happens whether or not I'm playing a game. If a game crashes, I can close it via Task Manager. Its not overheating. It passes HP extensive hw diags. The BIOS is current. It works perfectly between freezes. No error messages.

2 known issues:

1. OS/software - I was using Windows (7) back up and restore, once per month it was interrupted due to a system freeze and restart. It then drove me crazy with trying to restart and run the back-up and caused freezes if I tried to run an app. I tried to stop the back-ups but it kept trying to run until I went back in and tweaked one certain setting in additiion to having had changed to unscheduled/manual back-ups. It now appears to be stopped but unrecoverable system freezes still occuring.

2. Video hardware/software - approx. 6 months ago I had updated my AMD video driver and it cause my PC issues. I ran AMD auto-updater and IT reverted me to older driver. So, I kept it that way and system was working fine. Recently, I bought some new games (like SW Battlefront) and they literally told me I had to install the latest video driver. I did and it's a great possibility as the culprit. AMD has a long history of video software/driver issues. But what the heck do I do with that?

Thanks.

May I ask you what BIOS version are you using? I have seen 3 people so far that recently are experiencing random freeze including me in the same computer model. I believe it all happened after upgrading the bios via windows update. The version of bios that I believe is giving issues is version F.57. I tried to roll back but the system wont let me.

Also I believe is not driver related. Since the computer also freezes during windows 10 setup or using the recovery usb image.
