RAM upgrade for Pavilion Elite 140f

Pavilion Elite 140f
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am attempting to increase the RAM on my wife's desktop from 8GB to 16GB.  The technician at my local store and I looked up the specifications for the computer and we discovered that we could upgrade with 4 4GB 1600 DDR3 DIMMs.  When I installed them the computer would not boot up.  It gave me no opportunity to enter the BIOS setup, it just sat there with a blank stare.  I put the old memory back in (4 2GB 1600 DDR3 DIMMs) and it works fine.  Thinking the memory I purchased was bad, I returned it to the store and exchanged it for a different brand with the same specs.  I got the same results.  So I tested the new memory in my own desktop and it works fine.  My wifes computer responds to it with a blank stare.  I am typing this on my wife's computer with the old memory reinstalled.  Is there a jumper I need to change to increase the RAM size?  Is there something peculiar about this machine that causes it to not recognize the new RAM?

Any ideas?

RAM upgrade for Pavilion Elite 140f

Hi,

Follow the below HP guidelines for upgrading memory in the Iona motherboard.

This HP part, 497158-C01 is for 4GB dimms that should work in your PC. HP might not have these dimms in stock but if you google the part number you should be able to locate the dimms.
