HP PAVILION TG01-0672NO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I bought my desktop seven weeks ago. First time I booted the windows setup froze, and I had to do three reboots before the integrated bootup fix initiated, and after that everything worked as intended. In the time after this, I had no issues of this sort. However, in the past week or so, every time I boot, I have to reboot three times:

First boot: Screen remains black, seemingly nothing happens. Reboot.

Second time: The HP logo shows, but with no "loading-dots". Reboot.

Third time: The HP logo shows, I get the loading-dots, but they freeze. Reboot.

Fourth time: The repair tool initiates and everything works.

Another thing that has happened recently, is that the screen won't turn on after hibernation. This has been easily fixed by turning off hibernation, but I was thinking that perhaps this is part of the issue.

As of now this issue is only a minor inconvenience, as the computer seems to work perfectly once it has booted, but I'm worried this could be symptoms of a bigger issue that might escalate. I have seen several videos and posts with similar issues as mine, but couldn't find anything that fit perfectly (most seem to be infitine loops or similar). I did a disk check, but as far as I could see it didn't find any issue. (PS: I'm new to these kind of forums, and my knowledge about PCs are very limited, so please pardon if there's a "google it" type easy fix that I've missed in my search).

Thank you.

Hi,

This is not normal behavior. I think you may have a hardware problem. Freezing at the out of box, setup, experience is not a good sign. Having to reboot the PC up to four times to load Windows suggests you have a sporadic Power On Self Test problem.

I would contact HP Support (Link) for warranty assistance.

HP Support may eventually tell you to back up data and do a factory reset before factory service can be authorized.

Regards

Thank you, Grzwacz. I was hoping for an easy fix I could manage myself, but I see now that it won't be that simple. Just one day later, and now it no longer has the previous pattern of four boots. In fact I've only managed to boot it twice in perhaps 50 attempts today (which at least has afforded me the opportunity to cooy all essential personal files to an external drive). I will bring it back to the store I bought it, as it should be covered by the warranty there, and hopefully it will be fixed.
