Does anyone know if I can put an SSD Drive into my system and use it as a boot drive?

under certain conditions, but yes it should be possible
I only answer the question and a little more
if necessary a new discussion thread might be necessary, for new questions!
So your computer does not have an additional slot if I have seen correctly!
You will probably need to install it in place of the original hard drive or DVD player, if not used.
You need a classic sata SSD, help yourself from this site

Attention
A bios update is not without risk!
Be aware that if you are offered to do so, it will be at your own risk, the computer may become unusable, think about it
