I have a Slimline - 290-a0011, product 3LB07AA#ABA., running Win10 Home, build 22H2. Until today, I have all the updates from MS installed.
I have a problem that has gotten worse over the last month, that being my PC locks up when it is not used for more than an hour. The screen is locked and the keyboard will not respond. I was running a diagnostic test, long-time check on the hard drive, when the fan started to speed up, then it shut down, and the system locked up.
I thought it might be the screensaver, so I turned that off. I checked all the sleep settings. I backed out what updates I could (only could do the 2/15 updates). Nothing has worked.
Has anyone else had issues with the Windows updates that might explain my issues?

hi
" long-time check on the hard drive, when the fan started to speed up, then it shut down, and the system locked up."
if you are testing outside of windows and you have this problem, it has nothing to do with windows
please perform the hardware tests
via f2, or usb key
everything is explained in this link

Sorry, I was not totally clear on my posting.
Summary of actions taken -
1 - Disabled the Win10 screensaver
2 - Checked all power settings to verify all sleep settings were set to "Never"
3 - Checked the time setting for the hard drive to go to sleep. Did a reset to the default power settings, set this to the HP recommended setting.
4 - Uninstalled the latest Win10 updates from 2/15 (Wednesday).
None of these steps were successful. The PC continued to lock up after being inactive, any time from 15 minutes to an hour.
5 - Ran the Diagnostic utilities in the HP Support application. Got to the second hard drive analysis tool, the one that says it will take a long time to complete. This was the first time that I was in front of the PC when the PC locked up. The internal fan started to speed up, the progress bar on the utility was moving, then the fan shut down, the progress bar stopped moving and the PC locked up.
6 - I touched the case, looking for hot spots. The case was cool to the touch.
There are no error messages, no blue screens, and the Diagnostic utilities all came back reporting no issues found. When I do a restart on the PC, there is no error message, and even the browsers do not ask if I wanted to restore the page that I was viewing when the lock-up occurred. The PC acts as if nothing happened.
