New desktop has been working fine, left it on sleep--main picture comes up, then goes to where I put in password. It says welcome--then the screen goes black, can see cursor only. Can open task manager, Tried opening with F8--same results. Please help.

Hi Jeannette2017
This problem seems to be caused by the Windows 10, Creator's Update.
Some folks eventually get video and are able to navigate. It may take up to 8 minutes before you have on screen display.
Do this to fix if you get video.
Open Cortana, open msconfig and select System Configuration.
Open Services tab. Uncheck App Readiness.
Restart your PC.
You can stop App Readiness using Task Manager if you don't get video.
Let me know if you cannot fix this using msconfig.

You are part of a very-exclusive "club" of people whose computers have these symptoms.
Obviously, HP and Microsoft are working on a solution. Have patience, or try the "tweaks" mentioned in the above thread.

Hi Jeannette2017
I am guessing the temporary fix worked.
Good to see this.
Big_Dave points out here this fix is a temporary workaround until HP and Microsoft figure this out.
I am also not having this problem on custom built PC's.

Hi Jeannette2017
HP has issued a patch.
Your PC product series (HP Pavilion 570-p0xx Desktop) PC is on the list.
Go here for the download.
This HP Support site list all products affected by your problem.
You may want to check App readiness in msconfig or this patch may auto correct this. Check this setting to be sure it is enabled and your PC is now booting correctly after applying this patch.
