Stuck and HP logo and spinner

HP Envy 810 219nb
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I am running the system quick test and it is now at Hard Drive Short DST check 2% - estimated time 59 minutes and 26 seconds(but already 15 minutes have passed in real time)

Nothing was installed, nothing was changed in months, came back to work and powered it up and now I cannot work.

What can I do ?

Hi

If it fails the Short or Long DST test then assume you have a failing Hard Disk.

Backup all DATA, Make (or find your) HP Recovery Media and source a new HDD.

If in doubt please ask.

Hi, thank you for the reply

"If it fails the Short or Long DST test then assume you have a failing Hard Disk."

I did not wait for this "Short" test , because after 2 hours of the "Short" test I gave up, went and bought a new SSD to be able to do my work.

Now I have another criticla problem, the SSD was with Windows on it, where can I get the Windows back ?

When the computer was purchased, no Windows CD/DVD/USB came with it, what can I do to get it back ?

I am now running an Ubuntu Linux untill I get back the Windows, unfortunately my work depends on Windows only SDKs(DirectX, DirectShow)

Hi

Windows 10 is available here...

ISO images of various Microsoft OS's are available.

They can be be downloaded (sometimes you need a licence key other than the HP OEM key)
and 'burnt'/expanded to a DVD/USB. They WONT contain appropriate HP software, like drivers etc.
But may enable a repair to be started.

For when it’s a NON MS OS (iOS/Linux/Android) to create install media.

and a HOW2 is here...
