Stuck on HP Startup Screen due to Accessories

HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had this problem once before and was able to solve it.  However, after recieving another windows update, it is back.  Was hoping someone might be able to help.  Here goes:

When I boot up my HP Envy Desktop, it gets stuck on the HP Logo.  My keyboard is off, while my headset and mouse remain on.  However, when I hard restart the PC, it works just fine.

The last time I had this problem, I disabled a startup program that windows had on automatically.  But this time, I can't seem to find the same solution I did last time, and can only find people asking about their computers never booting at all.

Does anyone know what I have to disable and how?

Welcome to the HP Forums!

This is a wonderful place to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

I reviewed your post and understand that you are unable to boot to Windows and the computer is going to black screen.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

For now, I recommend you disable App readiness from the startup menu.

Here is how it is done.

If you have previously disabled App Readiness

  1. Boot the PC
  2. Click Start and type Services
  3. Open desktop app Services and find App Readiness
  4. Open the service and set Startup type to Manual
  5. Click Apply and close the window
  6. Download and install HP Image Enhancement for System Logon
  7. Re-boot

If you have not disabled App Readiness

  1. Boot the PC
  2. Wait 15-20 minutes for the boot process to complete and for the desktop to load
  3. Once on desktop, Download and install HP Image Enhancement for System Logon
  4. Re-boot

If you continue to face the same issue, I recommend you update the bios and the chipset driver from the below link and test.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue.

Let me know how it goes. Awaiting your reply!

Ah, nevermind!  I figured it out, thanks to this post: (Professor_Yaffle's comment).

All I had to do was disable the fast start-up setting and it doesn't lock up on the hp screen.  Thanks anyways!
