Hi @bfsjr,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP TouchSmart 600-1050 desktop computer is stuck in a boot loop with repetitive messages and choices, it could be due to various reasons. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Restart the Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve temporary issues. Power off the computer completely, wait a few seconds and then turn it back on.
Check for External Devices: Disconnect all external devices, such as USB drives, printers, or external hard drives, and see if the computer boots up without any issues. Sometimes, a faulty external device can cause boot problems.
Boot into Safe Mode: Try booting the computer into Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, only essential system files and drivers are loaded, which can help identify if the issue is related to third-party software or drivers.
- Restart your computer and press the F8 key repeatedly as it boots up.
- Select "Safe Mode" from the advanced boot options menu.
Perform a System Restore: If your computer was working fine before and the issue started recently, you can try using System Restore to revert the system to a previous working state.
- Boot from a Windows installation or recovery disk.
- Choose "Repair your computer" > "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "System Restore."
Check for Disk Errors: It's possible that there are errors on your hard drive causing the boot loop. You can use the built-in Windows Check Disk utility to scan and fix disk errors.
- Boot from a Windows installation or recovery disk.
- Choose "Repair your computer" > "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Command Prompt."
- Type chkdsk /f /r C: and press Enter (replace C: with the letter of your system drive).
Reinstall or Repair Windows: If none of the above steps work, you may need to consider reinstalling or repairing the Windows operating system. This may involve using a Windows installation disk or USB drive.
- Boot from the Windows installation disk.
- Choose "Install now" and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Select the "Repair your computer" option.
Check for Hardware Issues: If the problem persists, there may be hardware issues. Ensure that all internal components are properly connected.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
