Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Obelisk desktop model 875-0024. Recently with in the last couple weeks my computer started doing this strange thing where when I put it into sleep mode it will turn on randomly, which was usually normal I would see this happen because an app would open or a download would start and it would wake everything, but it has started to turn on without turning on the monitor, keyboard, and my 2 monitors and when I got to press any buttons on my keyboard or shake my mouse it doesn't respond, so I have to press the power button on the desktop and restart it that way. Once I turn it off and back on it seems to run fine but I know pushing the power button on the desktop isn't always the proper way to shut it down.

Would love to know how to fix this issue

@CMATX Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that Turning back on from sleep mode but letting turn on the mouse, keyboard, or 2 monitors.

I suggest you make a few changes to the way sleep mode works under power options:

  • Change - "Put the computer to sleep" to preferred time,
  • And Change - "Turn off the monitor" to never.

If the issue persists, try the below steps:

Disabling the hybrid sleep, followed by updating all available Windows updates and the BIOS update from the HP website, please follow the below steps to disable the hybrid sleep after performing a hard reset on the device should help resolve the issue.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Control panel.

  2. Make sure the View by setting is set to Category, and then click Hardware and Sound.

  3. Click Power Options.

  4. Click Change plan settings for the power plan that is selected.

    Changing the plan settings

  5. Click Change advanced power settings.

    Clicking Change advanced power settings

  6. Expand Sleep, and then expand Allow hybrid sleep.

  7. Select Off from the On battery drop-down menu, and then select Off from the Plugged in drop-down menu.

Selecting Off in the On battery drop-down menu

  8. Click OK.

I'm not sure the best way to explain this, I realized I had a typo and forgot a couple words when I was typing it out real quick. Basically the computer will turn back on from a sleep mode and most of the time everything is responsive and I can go back to what I was doing but there are sometimes it will turn back on from sleep but nothing will respond. I hit the spacebar on the keyboard or shake the mouse and the display does not come up and the keyboard and mouse act like the computer is off but it is not. Which then leads to me having to push the power button on the computer to restart everything.
