What Slots do I use to add 2 new RAM memory cards?

Hi @longshot58

It is generally recommended to avoid mixing memory modules having different timings and transfer rates from different manufacturers. Memory kits are also recommended for the best results.

Your PC ships with 16 GBs of DDR4-2666 memory. HP does not specify the config.

Your MB has two memory channels and four memory sockets or slots. The memory slots should be populated using every other memory slot to get Dual Channel memory transfer rates.

Do you now have two eight GB sticks of RAM or one 16 GB stick of RAM? One 16 GB stick of RAM defeats Dual Channel memory transfer rates.

This following image shows memory slot population for typical: four slot, Dual Channel MBs. The CPU would be at the left of the first memory module slot.
