HP Z230 Small Form Factor Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HPZ230 gets stuck on shutting down sometimes.  It goes to the shutdown screen where it says shutting down and has the white dots moving in a circle, but stays there forever.

The issue you're encountering could be caused by a software or hardware issue. Here are some suggestions that could help you resolve the problem:

  1. Check for updates: Make sure that your operating system and drivers are up to date.

  2. Perform a clean boot: A clean boot is a way to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This will help you determine if a third-party application is causing the issue.

  3. Check the hard drive: Check the hard drive for errors using the built-in tool.

  4. Run a virus scan: Use a trusted antivirus program to scan the system for malware.

  5. Check the Event Viewer: The Event Viewer logs system and application events. It may provide information on what is causing the issue.

  6. Perform a system restore: If the problem started recently, you can try performing a system restore to a previous point when the system was working fine.

  7. Try to repair the operating system: You can use the Windows 10 Repair function to resolve the issue.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to contact HP support for further assistance.
