There is a light on the back that shows there is power to the system but when i press the Power/On button nothing happens. If i hold the Power/On button for about 20 seconds then a light comes on the front but nothing happens.

This not good. I assume you have an HP system of some type.
If desktop, unplug from wall. If laptop remove battery (if removeable) and unplug adapter. Press power on key 2-3 times then reconnect and try the 20 second routine again. You may have to do this twice.
Are any keyboard lights flashing? Any beeps? For laptops, the beep or LED codes are here
What model HP do you have? Product ID?

Error codes for your system are slightly different from a notebook. Please read the "reset" instructions.
Do you hear any beep codes or see any flashing LEDs?
If no error codes or flashing lights either the motherboard is bad or the power supply is bad.
Alternately the video display is not working. See if you can log in my entering you PIN or password and listen for the windows TaDa sound. Since you are logging in blind you may need to try several times entering your PIN and pressing the enter key. Post back here if this seems to work.
You might borrow a 19v 3.3 amp power supply to see if there is a power problem, Since you see an LED light up I suspect the problem is the motherboard.

I appreciate your reply and suggestions. I have tried all the solutions I can find and nothing seems to change. The power supply has been tested and is good. the computer has one light that comes on in the back right above the power port, so that leads me to believe the computer is getting power. There is also a white light that is supposed to come on in the front right below the bottom of the screen when the system is on but it does not come on when the power button is pressed. Also if i hold the power button for about 20 seconds the light will come on but goes off as soon as i release the power button. No beeps, No bells, No whistles No nothing. I thank you for your help but I now believe the system just has a bad MB. Time to just replace it. Thank you again.
