hard drive failure id ggdawf-000969-qffxok-60vx03

HP Recommended
Envy h8-1420t
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I ran windows update and installed several updates.  After I restart my computer, I go into automatic repair, and it sits there for hours with the following message: Repairing disk errors.  This might take over an hour to complete.

I let this run for over 8 hours and the message didn't change.

restarted my computer and went into diagnostic menu.  Ran hard drive test and received the following failure id: ggdawf-000969-qffxok-60vx03.  Product id: c1u69av#aba.

can anyone tell me what this error means and if I will be able to recover from it?

Greetings doogieis,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not an HP employee.

The failure ID code check using your error code indicates a "checksum" failure.

You will have to replace the HDD.

This is an unusual error code. The HP hardware diagnostics error code usually specifies what HDD is failing or has failed. Your error code is generic. It is not isolating a disk.

How many HDDs does your PC have? It could be the MB HDD controller that has failed.

Your PC has many storage device configurations at purchase. You need to specify the exact storage config you purchased.
