My laptop started to download win10 april update in the middle of the night and in the morning it wont boot so I tested many things and the hard drive test failed.

Is it recoverable or do I need a new hard drive?

@fallenone, welcome to the forum.

If the hard drive failed, your only option is to replace it with one the same size or larger so the Recovery media will work properly.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for workstation.  In Chapter 4, Removal and replacement procedures, on Page 60, there is a list of compatible hard drives and a guide to help replace it.
