hp 520 touch smart

I have been away for a month and came home to find when on pressed the power on button on my old hp 520 touchsmart it tries to start but does not boot up and the power light keeps going on and off every few seconds it sounds lie it is trying to start but then fails.

Has anyone encountered this problem. Thanks in advance Sawys

@sawys -- it is possible that the external power-supply has failed.  Do you have a "multimeter" that can measure the voltage and wattage being produced by it?

It is also possible that the motherboard has failed.

Repeated "cycles" (motherboard is cold when it is off, motherboard heats-up when it is running) may have broken a circuit on the motherboard.  Possible, but not likely.
