hp a1610n wont boot to desktop

Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I formatted my hard drive to install windows 7 but on reboot the system doesn't accept my cd for 7. It does allow Ubuntu to be installed but on reboot I get the same message: Install system disk and press enter. Also after installing Ubuntu, I can't reach it's desktop.

@Westtech

Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing -- Win7 does not come on a CD; instead, it comes on a DVD.

IF it is actually a DVD, since your CD/DVD drive appears to be able to read other DVDs (i.e., Ubuntu), my guess is that the Win7 DVD is damaged or scratched in some way.

You should try reading it in a different PC.
