info to migrating from an older PC W7 to New PC W10

> [migrate to] new PC Desktop W10 ... from an Desktop on W7 ...

Two possible methods:

1. Disconnect the disk-drive from the Windows 7 system.

Disconnect the power/data cables from the CD/DVD drive on the new computer.

Connect those power/data cables to the disk-drive you just pulled from the Windows 7 system.

Ensure that the "boot order" on the new computer boots from the "primary" disk-drive (that came with the computer), not from the "secondary" disk-drive that you just connected.

Boot Windows 10.

Open File Explorer.

Open the secondary disk-drive.

Open the 'Users' folder.

Open the folder for the logon-ID that you had on the old computer.

You may have to "take ownership" of that folder, and its sub-folders, in order to access the files.

Copy the files/folders from "old" to "new".

2. Backup all your files from the old computer onto an external disk-drive (or large-capacity USB memory stick).

Connect that device to the new computer.

Copy the files/folders.

3. Boot both computers at the same time.

Connect both computers to your home "router".

On Windows 7, "share" the folders across your home network.

On Windows 10, "connect" to that shared folder.

Copy from that "shared" folder onto your new computer.
