My laptop was sitting on the logon screen when it suddenly shut down, when i attempted to boot it up again, all i heard was buzzing coming from the computer and nothing else. After a few minutes, it completely shut off and has no sign of life.

Hi @carb0nd1ox1de,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15 is experiencing a hardware issue that could be related to the power supply, battery, or internal components like the motherboard. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Remove the Battery (if removable): Unplug the laptop from the charger, remove the battery (if removable), and hold down the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any remaining power.
- Reinsert the Battery and Charger: After the reset, plug in the charger (without the battery if it's removable) and try powering on the laptop.
Check the Charger and Charging Port
- Inspect the Charger: Make sure the charger is working by testing it with another device if possible. Look for any visible damage to the charging cable or adapter.
- Use a Different Outlet: Try plugging the charger into a different power outlet.
Check for LED or Display Signs
- When the charger is plugged in, check if any charging LED lights come on (they should light up even if the laptop doesn’t turn on).
- If the light doesn’t come on, the charger or charging port might be faulty.
Test With and Without the Battery (if removable)
- If your battery is removable, try powering on the laptop with only the charger and without the battery inserted.
- If it powers on, the battery may need replacing. If it still doesn't power on, the issue might be related to the motherboard or internal power components.
Check for Power Drain
- Sometimes excess power can cause laptops to behave this way. Hold the power button for 30 seconds with both the charger and battery removed, then reinsert the battery and try powering it up again.
Inspect for Buzzing Noise
- If you hear a buzzing noise, it could be a sign of a short circuit, damaged internal fan, or power supply issue. This might require a technician's inspection.
Try Connecting to an External Display
- If there’s no sign of life but the laptop powers on (fan spinning or internal sound), try connecting it to an external monitor to see if it’s a display issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
