Hi @Norm88

This BIOS update has corrupted your PC's BIOS for some unknown reason.

Download this BIOS version using a different PC. Run the .exe file to create a bootable USB BIOS recovery flash drive on the host PC.

Watch this HP video on how to flash your PC's BIOS using the HP USB BIOS recovery drive.

Hopefully this will fix your PC's BIOS.

Hi Bill, thanks for your reply, but, unfortunately I can’t get past the black screen. I’m wondering if my computer, (motherboard is bricked). Everything I have tried gives no result. Puzzling thing is the update was a message from HP to update the BIOS and it did successfully, restart. The next day I got only power on, black screen no boot.

Here is an HP document regarding things to do if your computer does not boot or start:

Hi @Norm88

My pleasure.

Your PC has the Sunflower MB. The MB ID is 8433. The 8433 ID tells you what BIOS is required for the MB.

There was only one older BIOS update for your specific PC. So the BIOS update I provided was the latest BIOS update for the 8433 MB which provides the option to create a USB BIOS recovery flash drive.

I am surprised the USB BIOS recovery did not work.

Try the steps that @WAWood provided to see what happens. Maybe the MB is in trouble or some component/peripheral connected to the MB has a problem.

BTW, there were some BIOS update problems with the 8433 MB in early 2023. Some folks had a very sluggish and erratic  PC and other users  lost video and USB function (the PC starts to a black screen with no keyboard or mouse input).

The USB BIOS recovery option outside of the operating system was not available for this MB in late 2022 and very early 2023.

Check this Forum link for more info on the 8433 MB, F.57 BIOS problem.

Regards
