HP All-in-One - 24-g014
Other

Hello everyone!

So first off I'm new to this forum for HP so let's just get all the formality out of the way and get straight to the point!

Earlier today an older gentleman on Facebook Marketplace was selling HP All-in-One 24-g014 for a whole whopping $10! I'm not even making this up for the sake of the matter. In the description he stated: HDD pull but the device will no longer turn on from prior use. Yours to have. Real cut and dry!

Got the device and everything is there (minus HDD) so I dug right into things seeing what's actually going on with this. Well currently as it stands, the device ACTUALLY has power! Back indication light for the AC adapter emits on the unit, but for reasons that I'm not 100% sure of, the power button/card reader doesn't actually turn on the unit or emit a light indicating power or function. Since the individual pulled the original drive (assuming they were only wanting to save their personal files and anything else possibly) I had extra HDD laying around, so I got that in there, assuming maybe it won't boot without that. No dice.

So once again dug around all over checking to see maybe something was up with the mainboard (looked good) and any known loose connections/ribbon cables? Nope. So this is where I'm reaching out, just to see if anyone else ran into a similar issue on this! Again, the device does have power, and power button/card reader will turn off power altogether if you hold down the button for 4-5 seconds; then power "back on" if you touch it as you would, but nothing actual turns on or spins up (HDD or optical drive or fan for the CPU). No indication on the screen either so I'm curious if it's the power button/card reader or the mainboard?

At this point, if I'm out $10 I'm not going to cry myself asleep over it you know!
