Im trying to solve this issue but I didn't find anything that helps me with this specific model.  When I turn on the computer I got  the followin error BIOS message: 512 - rear chassis fan not detected, so I have to press F1 to boot.

Any change was made to the computer, so why it is appearing?  It must be a hardware issue with the fan?  Do I need to replace it?

I saw some posts saying that it can be changed just modifying the settings at the BIOS, but the BIOS doesn't have any option to specify the fan's speed.   I believe that the fan is working as the computer temperature seems to be ok.

Also, this message does not appear always, but is frequent I'm getting it.. How can I solve it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to HP support community.

Update the Bios, chipset using HP Support Assistant.

Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the instructions.  I did that and update the software but the issue persists.  I'm still getting the fan error at the BIOS screen.

What else I must check?

Thaks for your support.
