HP pavilion a6720y/AMD 9550
Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)

Im looking to find out what a good cpu upgrade is for this system and/or what is compatable. It currently has the AMD Phenom quad core 9550 processor.

i uderstand it is an older outdated system im looking for somthing that would help the PC run a little better faster.

It already has an upgraded graphics card and a litte more RAM and power source.

thanks,

Bobby

I recommend a Solid State Drive with your Operating System + Apps and Games. A 480GB / 500 GB / 512 GB SSD is the a bare minimum if you play games that require 40+ GB of storage space. A good example: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FRP252S . This make your PC boot up faster and load apps and games faster.

At this point, there's no real CPU upgrade that is suitable for your HP motherboard unless there's a BIOS update that supports the Socket AM2+ AMD Phenom II X4 CPUs. These CPUs uses 125-140 Watts. Your motherboard might not be compatible.
