Additional SSD for HP Pavilion Gaming 790-0900nz

HP Recommended
HP Pavilion Gaming 790-0900nz
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I would like to add a second SSD to my HP Pavilion Gaming 790-0900nz. The idea is to have a dual boot with one SSD for Windows 10 and the second (new) one for Ubuntu. I saw  that the mainboard has a free PCIe x4 slot. Could anybody please confirm that the following will work (or suggest a better configuration):

  • Put a converter card (e.g. Icy Box IB-PCI209) on the PCIe x4 slot.
  • Put the additional SSD (e.g. Samsung 970 EVO Plus) on the converter.

Thanks for the help.

@w_lan , welcome to the forum.

After reviewing the specifications of the motherboard, adapter card and M.2, SSD, I can't see any reason why it won't work.  However, just to be on the safe side, I suggest contacting the manufacturer's Tech Support to see what they have to say.  They are the experts on their products and should be able to tell you if they will be compatible.
