Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My computer has been plugged into the same surge protector for a while now and no issues like this have come up until now.

When trying to turn on my computer, nothing would happen when the power button was pushed.  I made sure everything was connected correctly which it was.  After some troubleshooting, the power cord indicator light turns green when it is plugged into the wall/surge protector but it is not connected to the computer.  The moment it is connected to the computer, the indicator light turns off.  After being plugged in for 5 minutes, the indicator light never came back on.  If the cable was unplugged from the computer, the indicator still did not turn back on.  After this, I unplugged the cable from the wall and replugged it, this still didn't turn on the indicator light.

The only way to the get indicator to turn back on was unplugging the three point plug that goes directly into the ac/dc adaptor box that is part of the cord.  After disconnecting that plug and reconnecting it and plugging it into the wall, the indicator light turns on.

Is the cable shot?  Do I need to order another one or is there another fix that I need and can do to fix this issue?

Hi @Nikopo

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try these steps - HP PCs - Computer Does Not Start

If the issue still persists, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
